CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS to help water over 1500 saplings in West Sussex, Lancing Ring and 800 at Sheepcombe Hanger in Findon that were planting to replace to trees felled due to Ash Dieback over the winter.
The lack of rain and dry conditions has meant the local authority Adur & Worthing Council are organising a weekend of tree watering events for these locations. The dates times and venues for the events are:
Sheepcombe Hanger, Findon BN14 0EF, 15th May at 9.00am.
Lancing Ring, North Lancing Bn15 0QA, 16th May at 9.00am.
Maps are shown below, with meeting points are indicated by arrows.
The ground is uneven and both sites are quite steep so volunteers will need to wear appropriate footwear and be physically fit enough to cope with the terrain.
You will need to bring 2-3 or 5 litre Milk carton or water bottles and will be met on site by council member/s of staff who will have water bowsers for you to fill up containers.
The aim is to give each sapling ( whip ) at least 1 litre of water. You can just turn up on the day but please comment on this post or email info@treeaction.org.uk if you are able to take part so we can have an idea on numbers.
