Over 170 supporters donated towards Warden Park Academy’s plan for trees to be planted on their school grounds by the students and TreeAction volunteers this year. Up to 57 trees including 24 fruit trees, each 2- 3 years old from a local nursery, will be planted in November and December fully protected with guards and mulch. Warden Academy’s Eco Team will be responsible for looking after the trees for years to come. Some of the funds raised are also going towards development of the garden area at the rear of the school, with a polytunnel and underlay for the pond already being purchased. The funds raised included a matchfunding donation of £2500 from M&S Energy towards the project.

” This is a brilliant project not only for the students at Warden Park but for the environment too. Keep up the great work ” said one of the project donors.

Both the fundraising and the plan for the trees were organised by TreeAction in partnership with the school. The crowdfunding was done in partnership with Crowdfunder.co.uk. Many donors elected to recieve rewards in return for the donation which included invitations to plant a tree on site, sponsorship and naming of trees, and a tour of the site.
